September 2016 Employment Trends Report [Infographic]

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), total nonfarm payroll employment added 151,000 jobs in August and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.9%. Over the past three months, total nonfarm payroll employment gains have averaged 232,000 per month compared to an average of 204,000 per month over the last 12 months.

The food services and drinking places sector saw the largest gains in August with 34,000 jobs added while the social assistance sector came in second, adding 22,000 jobs. Despite a .1% decrease from July, the temporary help services sector was up 1.2% from August 2015 and year-to-year staffing job growth averaged 2.2% over the past 12 months.
