March 2016 Employment Trends Report [Infographic]

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), total nonfarm payroll employment added 242,000 jobs in February. The unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.9%. Over the past three months, total nonfarm payroll employment gains have averaged 228,000 per month compared to an average of 235,000 per month over the last 12 months.

The retail trade sector saw the largest gains in February with 55,000 jobs added while the food services and drinking places sector came in second, adding 40,000 jobs. Despite a .3% decrease from January 2015, the temporary help services sector was up 3% from February 2014. Year-to-year staffing job growth averaged 3.8% over the past 12 months.
