June 2016 Employment Trends Report [Infographic]
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), total nonfarm payroll employment added 38,000 jobs in May and the unemployment rate decreased to 4.7%. Over the past three months, total nonfarm payroll employment gains have averaged 116,000 per month compared to an average of 219,000 per month over the last 12 months.
The health care sector saw the largest gains in May with 46,000 jobs added while the professional and technical services sector came in second, adding 26,000 jobs. Despite a .7% decrease from April, the temporary help services sector was up .6% from May 2015. Year-to-year staffing job growth averaged 3.3% over the past 12 months.
