November 2016 Employment Trends Report [Infographic]
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), total nonfarm payroll employment added 161,000 jobs in October and the unemployment rate showed little change at 4.9%. Over the past three months, total nonfarm payroll employment gains have averaged 176,000 per month compared to an average of 208,000 per month over the last 12 months.
The professional and business services sector saw the largest gains in October with 43,000 jobs added while the health care sector came in second, adding 31,000 jobs. Despite a 1.5% decrease from September, the temporary help services sector was up 1.8% from October 2015 and year-to-year staffing job growth averaged 2% over the past 12 months.
