Safety is a vital part of connecting people and work and Staff Management | SMX’s top priority for its associates. Keeping the workplace safe requires training and continuing education for both associates and clients. But it also often requires new gear that associates new to the automotive industry or other industries that require steel-toed shoes cannot afford.
Earlier this year, recruiters on the Seymour, Ind., Staff Management | SMX team found during interviews that associates not only didn’t have steel-toed toes required for the jobs, but also didn’t immediately have the funds to buy the shoes. So they reached out to their colleagues in Greenfield, Ind., who have been working with Changing Footprints, a suburban Indianapolis not-for-profit organization dedicated to getting shoes to people in need, to get donations of steel-toed shoes and boots for associates who need them since 2017. And a new shoe drive was born: Steel Hearts and Shoes.
With promotion in local media and social media, the Seymour team had a great response and now has more than a dozen pairs of steel-toed shoes and boots for new associates to who may not be able to afford them.
Though the official event is over, the team is still collecting boots and shoes for associates across Indiana and can connect with other offices across the country.
