February 2017 Employment Trends Report [Infographic]

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), total nonfarm payroll employment added 227,000 jobs in January and the unemployment rate was little changed at to 4.8%. Over the past three months, total nonfarm payroll employment gains have averaged 183,000 per month, compared to an average of 187,000 per month over the last 12 months.

The retail trade sector saw the largest gains in January with 46,000 jobs added while the construction sector came in second, adding 36,000 jobs. The average nonfarm pay remained the same at $26 an hour, as did the average work week at 34.4 hours.
