February 2016 Employment Trends Report [Infographic]

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), total nonfarm payroll employment added 151,000 jobs in January. The unemployment rate was little changed at 4.9%. Over the past three months, total nonfarm payroll employment gains have averaged 231,000 per month compared to an average of 228,000 per month over the last 12 months.

The retail trade sector saw the largest gains in January with 58,000 jobs added while the food services and drinking places sector came in second, adding 47,000 jobs. Despite a 25,000 decrease from December, the temporary help services sector was up 2.9% from January 2015. Year-to-year staffing job growth averaged 4% in 2015.
