December 2017 Employment Trends Report [Infographic]

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), total nonfarm payroll employment decreased by 228,000 jobs in November and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.1 percent. Over the past three months, total nonfarm payroll employment gains have averaged 170,000 per month, compared to an average of 167,000 per month over the last 12 months.

The manufacturing sector saw the largest gains in November with 31,000 jobs added while the health services sector came in a close second, adding 30,000 jobs. The average nonfarm pay rate increased slightly $26.55 an hour while the average work week increased to 34.5 hours.
