April 2016 Employment Trends Report [Infographic]

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), total nonfarm payroll employment added 215,000 jobs in March. The unemployment rate changed little, resting at 5%. Over the past three months, total nonfarm payroll employment gains have averaged 209,000 per month compared to an average of 223,000 per month over the last 12 months.

The retail trade sector saw the largest gains in March with 48,000 jobs added while the construction and health care sectors tied for second, adding 37,000 jobs each. Despite a .1% decrease from February, the temporary help services sector was up 1.9% from March 2015. Year-to-year staffing job growth averaged 3.5% over the past 12 months.
