Southern Indiana SMX Teams Help Food Bank Prepare for Clients

Although COVID-19 halted volunteering at Hope Southern Indiana’s food bank for a few months, its clients’ needs did not stop. With COVID-19 cases and unemployment both rising, families across Kentuckiana remained in need. So a group of Staff Management | SMX teams from Jeffersonville, New Albany and Seymour got together to help.

On Oct. 15, the team met at the food bank to clean crates that will carry pre-packaged meals and helped organize the food pantry for incoming canned goods and personal supplies.

“We were the first group since March that volunteered with them,” said Account Manager Reneasha Stewart, who organized the volunteer work for the team. “COVID has put a damper on volunteering at the center, however it encouraged us to continue the partnership.”

The work will help Hope Southern Indiana continue to assist homeless, poverty stricken and low-income across the region. The day was so successful and enlightening that they plan to help out again, especially during the holidays.
