SUPPLIER FOCUS: SEXUAL HARASSMENT
In December 2004, the San Antonio District Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a lawsuit charging staffing company U.S. Contractors Ltd. with sex discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation. The accusers in the case were six women assigned to temporary shop-floor positions at Formosa Plastics, a manufacturing plant in Point Comfort TX. The women claimed that neither U.S. Contractors nor its customer, Formosa, took corrective action after they complained about being harassed by workmen at Formosa. In the end, U.S. Contractors was ordered to pay a total of $530,000 to the six claimants.
