October 2017 Employment Trends Report [Infographic]
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), total nonfarm payroll employment decreased by 33,000 jobs in September and the unemployment rate decreased to 4.4 percent. Over the past three months, total nonfarm payroll employment gains have averaged 91,000 per month, compared to an average of 172,000 per month over the last 12 months.
The health care sector saw the largest gains in September with 36,000 jobs added while the transportation and warehousing sector came in second, adding 22,000 jobs. The average nonfarm pay rate increased to $26.55 an hour while the average work week stayed the same at 33.4 hours.
