June 2017 Employment Trends Report [Infographic]
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), total nonfarm payroll employment added 138,000 jobs in May and the unemployment rate decreased to 4.3%. Over the past three months, total nonfarm payroll employment gains have averaged 121,000 per month, compared to an average of 181,000 per month over the last 12 months.
The professional and business services sector saw the largest gains in May with 38,000 jobs added while the food services and drinking places sector came in second, adding 30,000 jobs. The average nonfarm pay rate increased to $26.22 an hour while the average work week stayed the same at 34.4 hours.
