August 2017 Employment Trends Report [Infographic]

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), total nonfarm payroll employment added 209,000 jobs in July and the unemployment rate was little changed at 4.3%. Over the past three months, total nonfarm payroll employment gains have averaged 195,000 per month, compared to an average of 1817000 per month over the last 12 months.

The food services and drinking places sector saw the largest gains in July with 53,000 jobs added while the professional and business services sector came in second, adding 49,000 jobs. The average nonfarm pay rate increased to $26.36 an hour while the average work week stayed the same at 34.5 hours.
