Staffing Innovator Executive Profile

In 1988 Michael Miles revolutionized the staffing industry with an innovative idea - a dedicated on-premise staffing model. Michael co-founded America’s first exclusively Vendor on Premise (VOP) staffing, now Outsourced Workforce  Management (OWM), company in response to the Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory strategy which took root in American manufacturing in the 1980’s. The more complex service requirements of JIT clients stressed the existing staffing model. An entrepreneur from an early age, Michael believed that he could do better and took action.

Michael’s idea provided for hands-on management of a client’s flexible workforce and supported decision making with ready access to program data and analytics. Michael launched the company when he partnered with one of America’s largest food and confection companies to support a staffing surge in their Chicago facility. Staff Management | SMX’s on-premise delivery model improved fill rates while reducing turnover, overtime and administrative burden for his client. Today, that company is still a client with a Staff Management | SMX Managed Service Provider (MSP) program in-place and OWM solutions embedded at their locations around the globe.
